In Appward, a timelog is a useful tool for keeping track of how much time is spent on tasks, projects, or activities within a set period. Timelogs help with managing time well, being productive, using resources wisely, and staying organized overall. By keeping accurate timelogs, individuals and organizations can make workflows smoother, use resources better, follow rules, and assess performance effectively.
How to use Timelog within a record
Let’s take a look at one of Appward’s most common use cases for timelog: completing tasks within the Boards app. To start using timelog, navigate to the Timelog tab within the details flyout of a record. This tab functions as a central hub for tracking time while accomplishing single or multiple tasks simultaneously.
Start – To start tracking the time for a task, project, or activity you can press the Start button. This will generate the timelog record and begin the process.
Pause – The pause button allows you to temporarily stop the time tracking process without ending the timelog session. This is generally used when you need to temporarily stop working on a task but intend to shift back to the task at a later time.
Stop – You can press the Stop button when you are ready to conclude the time tracking session for a task. The next time you start the timelog after a session was stopped, it will create a new entry within the timelog tab to indicate that it was not a pause but a full stop.
Status – The Status field provides information about the current state the timelog is in. The statuses available to be displayed are
Timer – The Timer field displays a live running timer that starts, pauses, and stops as you do.
Total duration – The Total duration is an accumulation of all the timelogs that exist within the record.

During completion of a task, you may need to adjust your timelog as you see necessary. You can edit a timelog entry by clicking on the pencil icon. You can delete it by clicking on the “x” icon.
After clicking on the pencil icon, you will be shown the Edit time popup.
Contact – The Contact refers to the individual from your organization who is responsible for starting, pausing, or stopping the timelog entry.
Start/Stop Time – The Start/Stop Time fields indicate the specific times at which the timelog entry started and stopped..
Paused duration – Paused duration represents the total amount of time during which the time tracking session was paused. Since the timer can be paused multiple times at different times, this field will track the sum of all the pause time during the completion of your task
Current duration – The Current duration indicates the ongoing duration of your timelog entry.
Enter new duration/pause duration – The Enter new duration field is where you can input a new total duration for the time log entry. This is especially helpful when you need to modify an existing timelog entry due to a missed start or pause.
